Our government is full of crooks, and dumbasses...

Remember the super committee? Remember how they couldn't accomplish anything? Remember how before the super committee the congress was trying to figure out how to reduce the debt and couldn't? You know all those people that talk about how congress refuses to stop spending more money that the government takes in?

The Feral Irishman touched on this yesterday, but every American should read the Wastebook by Senator Tom Coburn. Be forewarned, it's going to piss you off. It's hard to believe what kinds of CRAP our tax dollars get spent on. Read Coburn's report and you will see that our elected representatives don't care one tiny little bit about us or that we actually have to WORK for the money we send to them in the form of our tax dollars.

One example, our government spends $120 MILLION dollars A YEAR sending  retirement and disability payments to DEAD federal employees. WHAT? How stupid are these people, really? They continued to pay one dead guy for 37 YEARS! They only figured it out when his son, who was cashing the checks illegally, died. Holy crap! These are the people we trust to be good stewards of our tax dollars.

Another example, the U.S. Agency for International Development spent $10 MILLION dollars to create a remake of Sesame Street for Pakistan. Umm. Pakistan. Ok, couple this with another program from the U.S. Agency for International Development that spent $12 MILLION dollars to help industries in Pakistan develop plans on how to use less energy because there are daily power blackouts that last from 4 to 16 hours. The $12 MILLION dollar program was a total waste, so the power problems still exist. So with no power, how are the little children supposed to watch the $10 MILLION dollars Sesame Street?

And this one may be my personal favorite. Children, prisoners and other non-home owning people have earned a whopping $1 BILLION dollars in Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credits. So, how exactly does that work?

You know, most of the things on this list a small in the grand scheme of things, a few MILLION here, a couple of BILLION there. But these clowns NEED TO START SOMEWHERE. This crap added up to $6.9 BILLION dollars in 2011 alone. Everything on Coburn's list would be easy to do away with and it would show us, the people who actually have to earn these wasted dollars, that congress is at least trying to make an effort. They won't do it. They are addicted to spending, and that addiction is worse than any drug...

Preppers beware...

I received an email a couple of days ago from a person I think a lot of. The email was a warning that many of us have heard before and may have disregarded. He has it on VERY good authority that the federal government is keeping a list of those people who are stocking up on food and other necessary items.

If you are stocking up, do so with some caution. Pay cash for your stuff. Don't buy from someone that requires you to show id or wants to document who you are and what you are buying. Check your local area for one of the Mormon Home Storage facilities. Not all of the centers provide services to non-members, but it's worth a look. They sell long term storage food items at cost. Just so we are clear, I'm not a mormon, so it's not like I have an affiliation, just passing along what I have learned.

My Bride and I were discussing this very thing last night. She was stunned that the government would want to keep a list of who has stored food items and didn't understand why they would do such a thing. In the event of an emergency, there will be some haves and a whole bunch of have-nots. The federal government will try to minimize the have-nots with YOUR stuff. Be careful about where you buy your stuff. Don't make it common knowledge that you are stocking up.

My Bride and I figured about how many people would wind up at our house if things were to get bad. We figured the number to be around 30. How many will you have? Our number is immediate family only, and Joe Texan and his crew, but they are family too. How long do you plan to live on what you have stored?

One other bit of knowledge I instilled upon my Bride, out of the 30, with the exception of Joe Texan, I'm the only one that could actually pull the trigger in defense of my loved ones. That's kind of a heavy weight to be carrying around, but one I am willing to do for my family. Give that a thought. How far are you REALLY willing to go when push comes to shove?

John Huntsman? You're kidding...

I just read an article at Human Events that was kind of pimping John Huntsman. Personally, I've never considered him a contender. We don't need a rino right now, which counts him and Romney out in my opinion. Then again, I'm not even sure Huntsman is a rino. He might be a full on democrat calling himself a Republican, look at McCain.

If you need proof of that, refer back to the debate earlier this week where Huntsman said the government should "right size" banks that are too big to fail.

You know, the free market can sure do that without government intervention. If the government would stop giving banks and other businesses a no-fail guarantee in the form of bailouts, maybe the people in charge of these organizations would make better decisions.

There are two reasons businesses, or banks, fail. Either the consumers decide the product or service isn't viable or they are poorly managed. Either of the two are reason enough to allow the free market to weed out the weaker members of the herd. It works great in nature, and so it should in the business world.

So, anyway, Huntsman assertion that government should manage the size of banks is more of the same crap we have been dealing with for years. It doesn't help a bad situation to invest billions of dollars of tax payer money in to it. Why should we, the tax paying citizens, be on the hook for poor decisions or lousy products?

Huntsman should have someone in his organization take the pulse of the American public, we are bailout weary. We are just plain old government intervention weary...
